Company of Fools begins in Richmond, VA. in May, 1992 with a series of dinner discussions between artistic director, Rusty Wilson, and a few friends. Wilson initiated these discussions for the purpose of articulating his vision of a living theatre vital to the needs of its community. These discussions evolved into regular weekly meetings that continued to clarify and articulate the company's mission. Cecil Collin's essay, The Vision of the Fool, and his metaphor of the Fool as artist became the foundation on which the company began to build.
